Are Navy, Green and Oxblood the only colours we need for autumn?

Are navy blue, bottle green and oxblood red the only autumnal colours we need this season? 

Autumn has arrived and we have finally said goodbye to our summer wardrobes and pulled out our autumn favourites. Whatever colours they may be, a flick through this mornings Sunday Times Style and a trawl around the high street yesterday show these three colours are going to get your style on point for Autumn Winter 2015.  

No matter what your style is, darker colours and a multitude of textures are something we turn to when the days grow shorter, nights turn longer and the weather feels colder. 

Yesterdays jaunt showed the great British high street has endless offerings this season - see robe style, floor length wool coats at Topshop and Primark. Leather, suede and denim skirts at New look and H&M and bohemian floral printed dresses at Zara. 

For on trend and on price stylish pieces hit Primark and Dorothy Perkins.

Just a quick post tonight - life is mega stressful a the moment (uni deadlines are never ending!)

Yesterday I sported this number and tried to avoid the rain whilst taking these photos. 

I picked up this (amazing - if I do say so myself) dress whilst in Paris. Zara - you never fail to provide me with endless amounts of stripey pieces to brighten up my wardrobe. 

Come of late I've not been able to remove these Nike Air Force 1 trainers either. Black is definitely the new white and I know longer have to worry about avoiding puddles! 

Right - back to the copious amount of assignments!!

Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you that is a PVC skirt! Since the last post I've spent many evenings surfing the space we call the worldwide web for trend inspiration and I've come across lots of sixties and seventies stuff, which I love. But I'm not sure I'm ready to don a pair of flares and a silk shirt just yet. Instead I stumbled across this bargain A-Line in Primark for £3!! I know steal or what??

It all go at the moment hence the lack of blog posts! But I did manage to snap these somewhat formal pictures this cold (but sunny!) Saturday Morning. Yes - I've been buying more shoes this time its these ever so adorable velvet slippers with the cutest little pom poms!!

Teamed with a new pair of pinstripe trousers and oversized white shirt I felt a little Mia Wallace (AKA Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction). It you haven't seen this cult classic its a must see. Possibly Quentin Tarantino's best work, plus you must see the dancing scene at Jack Rabbit Slim's Dinner - just brilliant!

Lets talk TRENDS (Part II)

As I glance through my colour coordinated wardrobe, I notice the lack of colour there is. This is partly brought on by how large the black and navy sections are-there's just something effortless and simple about darker colours. (That coupled with the fact I'm not too sure that I can carry colour off.) I would love to be one of those people who wears beautiful bright coloured clothing and look amazing. When I've tried wearing colour in the past I've felt overdressed and fussy. Okay, this post is getting rather cynical so I should definitely get to the point. 

 

RED

Autumn|Winter is a great time to add colour to an outfit. It not only brightens up your look but your mood too, right?

RED was all over the A|W14 catwalks with a variety of shades to choose from-ruby, scarlet, crimson...the list goes on! I think the trick to wearing colour is to keep it simple, mix with darker muted tones and make use of clean, classic lines. Or if you dare take the Sportmax route and wow with an all red number. Textured red is also another way to go. I love how Prada and Tom Ford have created beautiful bold red pieces in luxurious silk and velvet fabrics.

The EDIT | The Roll Neck

 

 

As we speak it's raining outside and it's even getting colder, yesterday I wore a jumper for work...in August! I know you've heard it before but this has me excited for Winter. 

Last year I loved the chunky roll neck sweaters that the fashion elite were sporting, but somehow I struggled to find one I loved. 

This year I started my search early and I have found 'the one'! This super chunky, oversized number from Zara (here) will keep me cosy throughout the winter months. The chunky knit is a wardrobe staple either teamed with skinny jeans, a fitted skirt or a floaty dress it gives that minimalistic look I'm always pinning for. Perfection!!

At the beginning of  every month, I wait excitedly for my post man to deliver my favourite fashion glossy - ELLE! I usually race to the street style pages but not this month as my favourite fashion 6 monthly moment has arrived. The Autumn/Winter 2014 trend reports!
If you've been reading my blog for a while now you will know that the autumn/winter season is my favourite, in fact I spend most of the summer months dreaming about winter walks in my favourite parka and scarf. This could have something to do with my English pale skin not coping well in the summer, so much so that factor 35 sun cream is needed even in England (yes SPF does go that high). Saying all this sunny summer mornings do make getting out of bed much easier.
I'm thrilled to tell you this a/w14 that MILITARY is back, but with a very modern 2014 twist. Yes this may be a predictable winter trend but it seems very relevant for the times. Military was seen at Fendi, Isabel Marant, Balmain and Saint Laurent in a mixture of shapes, styles and colours. I'm particularly in love with the camouflage fur ankle length coat at Fendi, they also showed some beautiful knee length bombers and wool bell skirts. Details included patchwork fur, large buckles and satin boots. It was all about fitted leather styles at Balmain, short layered leather jackets with large lapels teamed with satin military inspired trousers.
However, to make these catwalk looks more wearable think giant fur hooded parka's at Saint Laurent and neutral coloured shirt dresses at Isabel Marant. According to ELLE, we should head to H&M for highstreet military pieces. Now all we need is to wait for those colder months to arrive, or simply jet off to a colder climate ourselves. Happy Monday.

London Fashion Week came to a close on Tuesday (quietly sobs, but hey on to Milan) and this year so much was on offer. After a few days of frantically checking both Instagram and Twitter for  updates it's time to give you (well what I think was) the best of #LFW. 

Many of my usual designer favourite's created some of their best collections yet and I also fell in love with a few new designers. 

Beautiful digital prints and luxe fabrics at Christopher Kane and leather, fur and layers at Topshop Unique. I don't know what it is but every season these two designers fail to disappoint. So modern, feminine, sleek and maybe even classic (time will tell).

Next on to a few newbies (at least to me anyway). Peter Pilotto, 3 words, fabric, fur and colour. Winter often leaves us feeling grey, but not with these amazing pieces on our sleeves. 

Lastly a designer I lack knowledge of but keen to find out more...Issa.  I just love the frills, chunky jumpers and statement printed flowers, there's something very 70's about them.
